Ardèche:
No need to get bored!
Ardèche Gorges
The valley of the Ardèche is very scenic, in particular a 25km section known as the
Ardèche Gorges
. The walls of the river here are limestone cliffs
up to 300m high. A kayak
and camping trip down the
gorge
is probably the best way to explore this area but of course you can also go by car or motorbike and enjoy the various viewpoints.
Balazuc
Visit the medieval town of Balazuc and stroll down the tiny streets with their charming houses, old steps and beautiful vistas. All the way up in the tower you have a splendid view over the river.
Aubenas
Aubenas is a lovely town where you can do your shopping, go to different restaurants or enjoy a drink on the outside tables of the cafés. Every Saturday morning there is a local market. In the town centre you will find an imposing 12th century castle which gives you an excellent view of the surroundings.
The Lavender Museum
The Lavender Museum in St. Remèze is a small museum that tells you all about the history and utilisation of this ancient plant.
There is a picnic area in the lavender fields.
Markets
Visit the weekly markets: typically french, a relaxed atmosphere where the smell of local products will make you hungry. We can give you a list of all markets, where and when.
Sports
Also when you like sports, the Ardèche is the place to be. To give you a few ideas: canoeing, kayaking, mountainbike, horseriding, walking, cycling, various adventurous sports and outdoor karting.
We are available to give you all the information you need. You can also inquire at the Tourist Office in Rosières (walking distance).
